Homicides

COVID-19 has hit us all. Business slowed. The economy crashed. About the only thing that increased was violent crime on the streets of Washington, DC.
For the past five years we, at D.C Witness, have covered every homicide from act to judicial resolution, gathering the data and telling the stories of the lives lost. Our work provides the kind of transparency and reporting nobody else offers.
As we head into 2021 we need your help to keep doing this work. The DC Council, which supports the work because of the information we bring to the city, renewed our grant but cut it in half. Our corporate sponsor has to cut funding as it deals with the pandemic’s fallout as well.
That leaves us with a $50,000 hole in our budget. If you have followed our work or think transparency of the criminal justice system is important please consider a tax-deductible donation.
The only way we can affect real change is if we all work together to make our city, this city, better than it was yesterday or the day before that. Please contribute to our cause to provide more transparency on the criminal justice system and supply policy makers with more tools to make this city safe for everyone.
