A judge denied a murder defendant’s request for release.
Reginald Hooks is charged with first-degree murder while armed for allegedly shooting 22-year-old Dy’Mani Priestley on the 1200 block of U Street, NW on Jan. 5.
Judge Michael Ryan informed Hooks on May 15 that his request for release was denied.
On May 12, parties were instructed to share information of Hooks’ medical condition.
Hooks was previously being treated at United Medical Center. The reason Hooks is in the hospital was not disclosed.
He motioned for release because of the COVID-19 pandemic on April 28.
Judge Danya Dayson initially denied the request on May 5.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18.
