A DC Superior Court judge denied an assault defendant’s release on May 21.
Tyquell Fields is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for shooting a man who was in a car driving home on March 18.
Judge Todd Edelman denied Fields’ release. Fields filed an emergency motion for release because of the COVID-19 pandemic on May 6.
Judge Edelman also ordered that a full competency report be given to the court.
D.C. Witness previously reported that Fields’ was ordered to under go a mental exam.
Fields is scheduled for a mental observation hearing on June 22
