A judge granted the government’s request to reschedule a trial for suspect Eric McDuffie in the murder of Antonio McCallister.
McDuffie was charged with first-degree-murder while armed for McCallister’s death in July 2015.
On Tuesday, the prosecutor requested that an extension for a trial hearing date. The government had another hearing trial that would interfere with trial preparation for McDuffie’s case, they said.
The defense attorney argued that moving the trial date wasn’t fair to his client. The defense also suggested that another member of the prosecution’s team to be assigned the case so it may go on as scheduled. The prosecutor argued that all of the members of his team were busy with other cases.
The judge granted the government’s request to reschedule for a new hearing.
The jury trial is rescheduled for May 9, 2017, and the trial readiness hearing is rescheduled for April 14, 2017.
