On July 23, a DC Superior Court judge dismissed a simple assault case after the defendant successfully met all the terms of an agreement she made with the prosecution.
On July 23, 2019, Chiakanma Osuala pleaded guilty to simple assault as part of a Deferred Sentencing Agreement with the prosecution.
The prosecution said that Osuala met all necessary conditions within the agreement’s allotted one-year period.
Judge William Nooter withdrew her guilty plea and dismissed the case.
“Congratulations on accomplishing everything,” Judge Nooter said. “I’m hoping this is your last time before the court on any such matter.”
