The case against Brandon Franklin is ready for trial after the defense and prosecution reached a “break in the impasse,” defense attorney Pierce Suen said.
Franklin was accused of fatally stabbing Marvin Stewart in Jan. 2015 on the 700 block of 19th St. NE.
With the jury trial set for Oct. 17, the defense’s only task in preparation for the jury trial is to gather all the paperwork.
The next status hearing will be held on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m.
