19-year-old killed Saturday

A 19-year-old girl died in a shooting that left multiple other people injured on Saturday.

Unique Davis was killed a little before 7 p.m. in the 1500 block of Tubman Rd., SE. When police arrived on the scene, Davis had already died from her injuries. Two other victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

 

Police have not yet released any suspect information.

Police searching for two men wanted in connection with murder of Jarvis Belle

Police are circulating a video of two men wanted in connection with the murder of Jarvis Belle.

The two men seen at a gas station in the 3400 block of 18th St. NE, are seen on the video appearing to shoot at someone seen off camera. Police also show a black car in the video which they want the public’s help in finding in connection with the homicide.

The two men appear to be dodging shots as they back away from the victim.

Man pleads guilty to killing Damonta Thompson


A man who fled to Florida after shooting another man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

Seth Holmes, 25, will now face a sentence of 10 to 14 years. Holmes admitted to shooting Damonta Thompson this May. Holmes followed Thompson in his car on the 100 block of Irvington St., SW, and shot at him four times. Thompson was found conscious, but died from his injuries. A medical examiner ruled he died from a gunshot wound to the back.

After the shooting, Holmes fled to Florida. He was extradited to DC in June and charged with murder. He is due to be sentenced in October.

 

 

Clifton Johnson sentenced to 21 years

A man who shot and killed another after a fight outside a Chinese restaurant was sentenced to 21 years in jail.

Clifton Johnson, 27, was found guilty of second-degree murder for shooting Dwayne Grandson. Johnson was sentenced to 16 years for shooting Johnson, and five years for gun charges.

During the trial, Johnson’s attorney argued that while both men were carrying guns on the night of the murder, Johnson was not the aggressor. He said his client was guilty of carrying a weapon, but not of murder. During the fight, both Johnson and Grandson were shot, but witnesses described Johnson as the one who initiated the altercation.

A jury found Johnson guilty in May 2017.

 

Man charged with Victor Williams’ murder ordered held


The man charged with the murder of Victor Williams was ordered held without bail.

Wandell Roy, 41, charged with first-degree murder while armed will be held while the case against him continues. Roy is next due to appear in court on Sept. 29.

Police have charged a man with the murder of Victor Williams last month.

Wandell Roy, 41, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed.

Williams was fatally shot on the Anacostia River Trail on July 26. He was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds and was taken to the medical examiner’s office.

 

Two men stabbed Saturday evening


Two men were stabbed, one fatally, on Saturday night.

Police responded to the 800 block of Xenia St., SE at around 7:45 and found two men suffering from apparent stab wounds. Both men were taken to the hospital, where one victim, identified as Anthony Graham, died from his injuries. The other man was admitted in critical condition, according to police.

Police have not yet released any suspect information.

 

Man found fatally shot in alley Wednesday

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man.

Balmore Mauricio Fuentes, of Maryland, was found suffering in an alley Wednesday afternoon from an apparent gunshot wound. Fuentes was taken to a hospital for treatment where he died from his injuries.

Police have not yet released any suspect information.
