‘Can I Get One Chance?’ Pleads Mass Shooting Defendant Asking Judge for Release 

A man accused of a mass shooting pleaded with DC Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz to release him during a hearing on June 12.  Rennwel Mantock, 31, is charged with six counts of assault with intent to kill while armed, six counts of aggravated assault knowingly while armed, six counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, 18 counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, carrying a pistol without a license outside a home or business, possession of an unregistered firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition. Judge Continues Release for Homicide Defendant Who Severed Ankle Monitor

Judge Denies Homicide Defendant’s Release Following Mistrial

DC Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz denied a homicide defendant’s request for release pending a retrial during a hearing on May 29.  Jaime Macedo, 25, is charged with felony murder while armed, robbery while armed, and two counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Maxwell Emerson on July 5, 2023 on the 600 block of Alumni Lane, NE.  On May 4, a jury convicted Macedo of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convict, but were unable to reach an unanimous verdict for all other charges.
