Homicides

An “unruly and aggressive” crowd interfered with the D.C. police as they attempted to investigate the fatal stabbing at Barcode on Jan. 31, according to the Washington Post.
According to police, Robinson Pal, was fatally stabbed that night. Another victim was also injured.
Off-duty police officers, hired by Barcode, were alerted of the fight inside and immediately took action. Patrons leaving the club interfered with the investigation and reportedly “caused a strain in resources,” the article said.
On Monday Feb. 1, Police Chief Cathy Lanier ordered the club to be shut down for the next consecutive 96 hours. In a closure letter, Lanier wrote that the homicide could be “connected directly to the operation of Barcode.”
Board members of the Alcoholic Beverage Regulations Administration are now discussing whether or not Barcode will closed permanently, as well as if any additional sanctions will be imposed.
Police have not yet named a suspect. A manager at Barcode declined to comment, though the restaurant was initially open following the stabbing.
